PEHD is highly resistant to chemicals and moisture The material is likewise particularly suitable for applications involving contact with foods and is therefore often used for plastic bags and bottles. PEHD features good notch impact strength and insulation capacity.

PEHD is a low-density material, highly durable and strongly resistant to many chemicals. PEHD is good at temperatures from -60°C to +80°C, and some forms can withstand temperatures as low as -110°C. The mechanical attributes of PEHD include superior toughness – even at low temperatures – superior wear performance and great resistance to fatigue fractures.

PEHD is available in several forms, including extruded and compressed panels, rods, piping, and welding wire.
PEHD is not resistant to strongly oxidising chemicals.
PEHD is resistant to numerous organic solvents.
PEHD complies with the RoHS directive. PEHD is available in a fire-retardant version and a version that is highly steam-proof.

PEHD is used in bottles, plastic bags, chopping boards, containers, pipe systems, wearing parts, machine parts, playground equipment, and skating rinks, as well as for anti-slip and wearing surfaces in the gravel, cement, powder, and transport industries.
PEHD features a soft surface, poor adhesion and painting attributes, low UV resistance and poor dimensional stability.
