PTFE – a Synthetic Fluoropolymer also known as Polytetrafluoroethylene and Teflon®

Many unique features combined in one solution

PFTE is a strong and flexible material that is ideal for use in products where extremely high demands are made on the properties and chemical resistance of the material.

PTFE – an abbreviation of polytetrafluoroethylene

PTFE is the abbreviation of Polytetrafluoroethylene, which is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene with a multitude of uses. DuPont discovered PTFE by chance in 1938 and was also the first to commercialize PTFE under the trademark Teflon®.
Among the flour polymers, PTFE is the most “fluorinated”. Its linear polymer chain encased by fluorine atoms is the cause for a number of unique properties in the material: low friction, high chemical resistance, slip-free function (see Teflon®), etc. Features rarely exceeded by other materials – especially when they are to be found in one and the same material.

Own Brand – PTFE Acoflon®

Since its inception in 1968, Acoplastic has been primarily known for our quality products in PTFE. Our own brand is Acoflon®, and it has gained trademark registration with effect from 2016.
Acoflon® is manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, EC / 2023/2006, and EC / 1935/2004 traceability system. A number of our Acoflon® products also comply with the US FDA regulations, so that they can be used in direct contact with food and pharmaceutical products.

PTFE Semi-finished Products and Customer-specific Items

Today we offer PTFE semi-finished products in the form of:
• PTFE compounds
• PTFE pipes
• PTFE rods
• PTFE plates
We also develop, manufacture and process customer-specific items in PTFE such as machine parts, membranes, seals, O-rings, belts, etc. In addition, we offer isostatic and hydraulically pressed PTFE as well as turning and milling in PTFE materials – see the list of materials in Acoflon®
